In which there I say thank you to God 1,000 times (#653-669)

by Craig on November 21, 2011

It’s Monday and Mondays are for thank you’s…

I heart blogs. We heart blogs.
People who don’t blog don’t really get us.
And that’s okay.

Then, besides blogs there’s Facebook, and Google +, and pinterest…

Me, I just blog and tweet.

source

Twitter is easy, like cupcakes or kittens. I can jump in or jump out when I want, and my twitter “stream” just spills all over with good people and love.

And I think about God a lot.
And I think about love a lot.
So when I tweet, I tweet a lot about both.

And since Ann has taught me the art of gratitude, I tweet gratitude about God and love a lot too.

So…

each thank you today is 140 characters or less…
it’s a tweet-fest of thank you’s…

and since this week the word “thanksgiving ” may be a tad overused, my list today is all about what…

I heart…

and I heart…

#653… that Our Lord really wants to be involved in all of our lives, be it momentous happenings or mundane stuff.

#654… that God is literally our “Father”, because it’s his spark in us that makes us alive.

#655… that God never needed to create us, never needed to save us, never needed to love us. But he did…and does.

#656… that our faith is not about a distant God, but about Jesus, who being God, always did and always does care.

#657… that Our Lord really lived, and died, and didn’t stay dead, so we would know that death isn’t the end.

#658… that since Jesus lives, then all those we have lost, who knew him, still live – and we will abide forever.

#659… that God’s eternity is now, we live in it, move in it, and there have our being.

#660… that although there is no guarantee of tomorrow, or even ten minutes from now – there can be a guarantee of forever.

#661… that when the race is run, I will run into His arms.

#662… that Ann has taught me to see what I’ve never seen, and perceive previously inaudible heartsounds.

#663… that one day we’ll know answers to the mysteries of all things great and small, when we know as we are known.

#664… when love is woven between words…

source

…that’s why I heart Christian “mommy blogs”.

#665… that Our Lord knows every part of me (of us) the strong, the nothing, the faith, and the doubt, everything.

I’m skipping this number – well – you know. Although now I’ll have to count to 1001 to get to 1000.  I’m OK with that. ツ

#667 .. that there is always room for a miracle.

#668… that God is there – even when I can’t “feel” him.

#669… that Our Lord seeks out and offers to fix what’s broken and make. it. whole.

Sometimes I wish there were “like” buttons to push at various places. You could know the lines and paragraphs that made us smile. These are good expressions of gratitude. So good.

me too Victoria, then I’d know what to write more about, and what to write less about. With thank you lists it’s easy though – thank you lists come with numbers ツ anyway, thank you, and God bless and keep you.

Oh this one just spoke to me – “653… that Our Lord really wants to be involved in all of our lives, be it momentous happenings or mundane stuff.” Especially the “mundane stuff” – and the miracle never ceases to amaze me how He (so infinite) and care about the details of my small life!

Peace and blessings!

how many times have I thought, I don’t want to bother God with this, or that, it’s kind of like thinking that we’ve got a limited amount of “God” favors, and so we should save for the really big ones – any of us who know our Lord should know different than – he has unlimited love, unlimited favor. And I don’t know why, but he really does care about the little tiny stuff in our life – probably because we care. He’s good that way ツ peace and blessings to you to LuAnne – and thank you.

Yes, 653 for me too! The mundane- it’s what I blur by and almost miss- but what I’m focusing on this week!

Kelly, it’s the mundane that you do, where you are, that makes the miraculous possible. I just felt I needed to say that. thank you Kelly, and God bless and keep you!

Here’s my fav: #654… that God is literally our “Father”, because it’s his spark in us that makes us alive.
I like that “spark” imagery.

Paul said the Greek philosophers had it right, that in God we live and move and have our being. And I think what is the “spark” that makes the heart beat, the makes the brain send the signal to the heart to beat, that reminds us to breathe, that makes us aware, sure it’s all physical – but what animates the physical – that’s the bigger question. He is the “spark” in so many ways. Thank you Sylvia, and God bless and keep you.

In the little picture on Ann’s blog I can read (almost) δόξα στον Θεό? Do you speak greek as well as swedish :-)
Your #668 … Grace!

Eva, I learned Greek in seminary, I heart languages, I wish I could speak them all. and yes – inside my little square on Ann’s page it says δόξα τον Θεό – it could also read Σας ευχαριστώ Θεού – both mean “tacka dig Gud” – I think that means “thank you God” – right?

And I am so with you on #668 – if the existence of God depended upon my feelings – I can’t think of a more shaky ground. God. Just. Is.

Thank you Eva, and God bless and keep you.

660, 661 and 668 are my favorites though I love the rest as well:) I don’t know why anyone wouldn’t want to blog:) It’s a great community and such a blessing!

boy, you put those three together and they make a nice trio. Thank you Christina. And I get why some people wouldn’t blog – if writing isn’t your thing, how horrible would it be to have to come up with a post. It’s hard enough when we love to write. So I get that. And you know what – before I began blogging I didn’t get blogging either – so I can’t blame them.

And yes, people like YOU make this an amazing community to be in – even for me – this little blue spot in a sea of pink. God bless you Christina!

Debbie, I had a computer crash – the crash of my own – and I’m sorry I’m so late to respond – anyway – I hope you know, having been there from the start, knowing that of the trials of the beginning, how important you reading me has been. I consider you a friend. I’m grateful – really grateful. God bless you Debbie!

I heart this post; it’s honesty and lightness. I heart your heart for it’s openness, even to rawness. I heart your heart for the way you heart others and encourage! Did I mention I hearted this post? it was funny, even it if wasn’t meant to be. At least, it made ME smile.

Shanda, sorry – SO sorry I’m late in responding – I know – this is really late – but I had a computer virus – and a computer crash – and a little crash of my own – and so I’m late – and I’m sorry! Thank you for hearting my post – I heart that! And smiles are important – so the fact that this post – if you can even remember reading it at this point – the fact that it made you smile – THAT makes me smile. God bless you Shanda.

I especially heart the last one…that He seeks us out and offers to help us. Thank you, Craig. I love seeing His heart for us in your writings.

Hey Craig,

i really enjoyed this list–err, i mean, i hearted it! and you are probably right–the word thanksgiving may get a tad overused this week–and we become desensitized to the meaning. i like that you used the word heart instead. and this is why instead of entitling my piece for Monday “Gratefulness in Thanksgiving” I went with “Pondering These Things In My Heart”–and i also just felt it went better with the content.

i loved this: that it is God’s spark in us that makes us alive, and that is why He is our Father. thank you for this, Craig. on a very confusing last few days for me emotionally, this has brought me some clarity–i love that about His gospel truth.

blessings in His grace, brother and friend!

Nacole

Nacole, first of all I’m sorry I’m so late replying to your comment – but somehow you got caught in my comment spam catcher – and I didn’t notice it until today – you were with about 1000 spam comments – luckily you stuck out ツ anyway, I’m sorry. I’m just about to head off for bed now – but I heart when you comment so much – I heart hearing from you so much – that I have to run off to your site right now to read you before I say good night to the world. Luckily for me, I know that whatever post you have up, I’m going to love it (notice I used the word love – not heart – that’s how good your stuff is ツ) God Bless!!

Hearting #659 . . . just struck a chord with me, especially after spending this week in God’s marvelous, wondrous, indescribable creation. Time stopped. It ceased to matter. All that existed was the now, the present, and being present in each moment to what God, through His creation, revealed to me.
I am part of it all . . . I am humbled by it all . . .
Blessings to you, Craig!

Martha – I have so many comments that I missed replying to last week because of the computer virus, and the computer crash, and the little crash of my own where I realized that there just are not enough hours in the day to do what I want. But I’m up and running again – and I’ll be making some adjustments – and hopefully that means more time to read people like you more – I heart reading you – I have to make more time for it – and will. I’m not sure how, but I will. God bless you Martha!
