A Gratitude Journal to God along with Ann Voskamp

You really have to look at this more than once to get it ¯(°_o)/¯ at least I did

Everything…
too much…too little.

The world is broken that way…
food is good…but there can be too much…too little…
time alone is good…but there can be too much…too little…
time with others…too much…too little…

even time with You, Lord…If I spend all my hours on the mountaintop in praise and meditation and never come down to the valley to be with other Christians, build them up, be built up by them, be a vessel of Your love…too little.

And how about thank you’s to You, Lord? Can they be too much or too little too?

If I bring them out once a week…
set them up like candles for all to see…
then blow them out one by one…
and grumble in darkness…

…too little!

I need to thank You…
good things…bad things…
strength…weakness…
faith…doubt…
all times…everywhere.

To live and breathe thank you…
mom always said…

“Actions speak louder than words.”

1000 thank yous, a Gratitude Journal to God along with Ann Voskamp

Thank You God…

#805… that in this mosh of good and bad…
balance never maintained…
fleeting heart and faith…
yearning for the “not yet”…but…not yet…
I am (we are) connected heart to heart with perfect balance…
the giver of perfect faith.

#806… that Your name is on my heart…
the heart that grows stone cold too often…
the heart You heat up and make pliable.

#807… that You continually craft. our. hearts.

#808… that You are never too little…too much.

#809… that the time for perfect balance…perfect blessing…for us…
that’s not…yet…
but there are glimpses of it here…now.

#810… that I get to write to You…about You…for You, Lord…

#811… that little bits of your Holy can flow from my pen…our pens…
the ink being The Spirit…
the point being Son…
the cap of the pen…Father and God…
my hand (our hands) write…you direct…
if we…if I…let You.

#812… that there is a “bigger than we can think” Divine mystery in Three who are One…but not only One…but Three…but One.

#813… that it is better, this life of thank you…better than the life of grumble.

#814… for this journey…because that’s the thing…
for the little graces in each moment…

And as I finished writing today I said this prayer…
for me…and you…

1000 thank yous, a Gratitude Journal to God along with Ann Voskamp

Yeah, I know it's not praying - but it LOOKS like it is - and it's a squirrel - I heart squirrels!

Today Lord, help me, help us…
cause me…cause us…
to stop, look around, have our goals, be driven…
but see You in the moments…
feel Your Spirit move through us…
learn the little lessons…
be on the way…

but smell the posies by the side of the path.

Amen

Good morning, Craig! Thanks for your kindest words about my art :) Wonderful news about your book! I don’t draw much anymore; my hands just want to make sculptures – lol. I do hope you find an artist soon so we can all read your story.

Funny about the crown of thorns. I made one a few years ago and I, too, forgot how nasty those wounds are. My kids wanted me to quit but I was determined to finish. I was in some serious pain for a couple of days.I don’t think I will forget next time :)

Jennifer, the picture book has been written for years, it’s even been pitched to publishing companies, it’s had authors of children’s books oooohing and ahhhhhhing – but it’s never had an illustrator – I’d heart an illustrator – I’d really heart an illustrator from this community we blog in – this community made up mostly of Christian women, and most of them moms – moms – though not perfect – have heart – this book needs heart. And be careful of those thorns – beautiful art – but dangerous. God bless and keep you Jennifer, thank you.

And how wonderfully reassuring that He is always crafting our hearts! Always, always and always!

Rebecca, first I’m sorry I’m so late responding to your comment, you got caught in my spam catcher – and I didn’t clear it out until today – and in clearing it out I always read through all the spam to make sure somebody “real” isn’t there – before I dump them all. Then I saw you – and I know that you’re real (that’s comforting huh?) so I saved you from my spam catcher and brought you to my comment section. That’s the story – sorry – you were caught – but now you’re saved (◕‿◕)

Anyway, thank you —- yes – YES – it IS reassuring that God, our God, our Savior and Lord, is always “crafting our hearts” – mine and yours – always. Amen my friend. God bless and keep you!

PS knit one purl two —- that’s all I know (◕‿◕)

I heart squirrels, too! And, I’m with you – he’s praying!
#810 and #811 spoke volumes to me. So glad you are reminding us here to be thankful, always and everywhere.
And, your prayer was wonderful . . .
Blessings always, Craig!

You didn’t read right Martha – I said the squirrel LOOKS like he’s prying – he’s not really praying – only cats can pray silly!! And the prayer, I said it for those reading – and of course, that means you. I heart that!! God bless!!

LOL! A squirrel is a hero in a novel I’ve written which >sigh< will probably have to self-publish hopefully this year. When I saw this photo, that was all I could think about . . .
Blessings back, my friend!

I have a little stone heart I found on a beach once. I keep it till this day to remind me – the old one was useless – and even the new one tends toward the old – Grace – it’s all Grace. Blessings to you too friend.

I always like your lists. And I like squirrels, too, even though they’re really just rodents. 😉

thank you Jamie, thank you much. And yes – squirrels are just kind of fancy rats – but seriously – the jumping – the cute eating of nuts – that’s fuzzy tail – and even praying! How can we resist? ¯\(°_o)/¯ God bless you Jamie!

hey my friend,

just now getting to drop by…i’m sorry i’ve been quiet…it’s been a whirl-wind week…illness running rampant around here for two weeks now–i’ve been laid flat by it twice…since God recently healed me from the chronic illness (praise Him!!) the enemy seems to be attacking with everything he can to make me believe i’m not healed. a little prayer would help–i know you heart praying for your bloggy friends?

this is my favorite {there were several–but i like this one right now–something God has been speaking to me about} “#811… that little bits of your Holy can flow from my pen…our pens…
the ink being The Spirit…
the point being Son…
the cap of the pen…Father and God…
my hand (our hands) write…you direct…
if we…if I…let You.”

beautiful! LOVE the prayer, love, love it! yes, that i would just be a vessel poured out, emptied of my own ambitions. and your illustration is coming soon–please don’t worry– i want to get it to you–i’ve really been totally out of it–but now this is priority. you will be totally surprised when i send the email–i know! blessings and prayers, friend!
